World to see SUPER BLUE MOON: Rare occurrence THIS MONTH for first time in 150 years

A BLUE moon, a super-moon and a lunar eclipse will all fall on the same night for the first time in more than 150 years this month.

If you're one of the special remaining people in this world who still make a point to look up at the sky instead of always looking down at your smart phone, you're probably anticipating the super blue blood moon. Occurring at the end of January, the blood moon prediction is to be a true, and we're farefully crossing our fingers for clear and skies. 

I’m sure you’ve heard all about the super blue blood moon that’s supposed to reign over our sky come Jan. 31, 2018 and it’s caused you a bit of head scratching. Will werewolves be howling all night? Will vampires come climbing out of cemetery grounds? Is the world coming to an end? Well… truth is, the name makes it sound a lot more fantastical than it really is but it’s certainly not without its cosmic influence. And it is also set to be a blood moon, the name given to the moon during a total lunar eclipse when it appears red in colour.

It comes hot on the heels of the January and may be occur on 1 and December 3 super-moons - showmanship which NASA has dubbed the ‘super-moon trilogy’.

In the UK, the moon-rise will occur sometime around 4.55pm GMT.

A lunar eclipse takes place about twice annually when the moon passes into Earth’s shadow, or umbra. The white or yellow light from moon is actually sunlight reflected from the moon’s surface. While covered by the Earth’s shadow during a lunar eclipse, the moon reflects refracted sunlight that makes the surface appear burnt red in the Earth’s sky.
